Walking in Winter?

I’m aware that I behave differently than I used to.

And I notice behavioral changes in other people as well. One obvious change is that people are not out just walking or running or biking. There is a great deal of creativity in how people get out and move. I’ve seen rollerbladers, adults on razor scooters, funky recumbent bikes, or tandem bike for adults and kids. You name it and people are finding creative ways to get outside and move their bodies – anything goes. Before the pandemic, I did not know that these people did any of these things. Truth is, I had never even seen most of these people before… and they live in my neighborhood.

I do have a question though…

What is going to happen when winter comes? Are people going to continue to feed their new-found habit of moving their bodies outdoors? …and if so, how? Things on wheels will be put away. Will people still get out and walk? Maybe we’ll see people x-country skiing or snowshoeing or pulling sleds of kids.

My hope is that the creativity generated in finding ways to propel ourselves forward this past Spring and Summer continues.

I’m thinking of new ways to move this winter. How about you?
