Vacations – What are they for anyway?
It’s a good question to ask yourself and impressive if you can deliver on the answer you give.
Whatever you do, we have one suggestion for you: Answer the question before you go on vacation and then execute;
because the quality of all vacations are determined by your expectations of the vacation.
No answering calls and emails unless that is what you agreed you would do on vacation.
Don’t cancel the time you planned to spend on the water by taking 2 days to go see Aunt Martha in the city instead. It’s not that we don’t all love our Aunt Martha’s, but we are setting ourselves up for disappointment if we do things differently than what we’d expected to do to make the vacation a success in the first place.
If you come back complaining it’s a clear sign that you didn’t set expectations before you left.
And if you come back feeling good about your vacation, it’s clear you did what you’d expected. Your vacation was a success!… and a successful vacation is exactly what we need during these times.
