Building engagement

Last month NK&A sponsored The Gratitude Project. Over 20 participants shared one thing each day that they were grateful for. NK&A provided the daily prompts and offered groups on LinkedIn, Facebook and text. Here were our two key take-aways when trying to elicit engagement of our audience.

  1. Medium matters: Participants who chose a medium they already interacted with on a daily basis were much more likely to participate regularly than those who didn’t. Convenience and habit are key. When thinking about engagement realize people have choices. Utilizing more than one platform to communicate and engage is critical.
  2. Quality Questions: When provided prompts that elicited personal or emotional responses, the answers we received were more insightful and thoughtful. These thoughtful responses also stimulated others to react. Being authentic and vulnerable creates a shared space for others and increases engagement.
