3 ways to improve business relationships
Most of our clients are B2B. They have built successful businesses primarily through face-to-face relationship building. At some point, all of them wonder, “Is there a better way?” A less time intensive approach with further reach would be ideal! Better yet, how about if people just arrived on your doorstep?
The reality is, in a business that is service oriented and built on trust, there is no shortcut to relationship marketing, but there are ways to maximize your efforts!
Here are 3 ways to accelerate the impact of relationships:
1. Consistency – show up over and over sounding and looking the same. To create a consistent experience for others with you and your brand, consider these opportunities:
- How you greet people
- The format of your emails
- Describe your business in writing and verbally the same way
2. Authenticity – Take an interest and show it. Ask questions, listen closely and find points of connection. Use those points of connection to help people remember you and share experiences. Points of connection deepen the relationship.
3. Show-up – Relationships are deepened through trust. There are small simple ways to do this:
- Be on time
- Respond promptly
- Make promises and keep them
- Admit errors when you make them (We all make mistakes)
These three tips may seem obvious, but are not always easy to execute consistently. Before investing money in lead generation, make sure you have your basics established. More is not always better in relationship building.
