What I learned on my summer vacation

The best part of my vacation was?

A.  Sleeping in late
B.  Golfing on a spectacular course
C.  Reading a good book while the ocean lapped at my feet
D.  None of the above

And the answer is…

D. None of the above

Yes, taking the pedal off the metal and being more leisurely than normal can feel good, but nothing  replaces time spent with those we care about most.

The best part of my vacation was in the early morning of my last day of vacation. I went down to the beach with my oldest son and worked out. When we were done we were exhausted but we’d also experienced things we’d never experienced before, like…

  • Doing skaters, push-ups and sprints in the sand is far less stressful on the body
  • Doing squats in unison with the waves that are crashing  before you is cathartic
  • The sun and the breeze energizes and it pushed us further than we could have imagined
  • And lastly, overheated and exhausted… the diving into the ocean, was other-worldly. Total relaxation (dopamine rush, incredible feeling of accomplishment, blissful)

Sounds a bit much, huh?

We highly recommend you try it… and then let us know how it went. Often times the best things in life are there waiting for us, if we are willing to put ourselves out there and experience them.
