The little things people do

Here is a phone conversation I overheard between my wife, an RN, and her boss about nursing COVID-19 patients at the hospital.

“Hi Gail…”

“I’m calling because I know you need help right now…”

“You can move me out of the Cardiac Unit…”

“I’m offering to work in any of the hospital’s Intensive Care Units where I know you need me…”

“Yes, whenever you need me…any shift…”

“No. There is no need to thank me…”

“I know what I need to do, and I want to do it…”

“I think you’re pretty great too, Gail.”
