Don’t let your social efforts get washed away this summer

With warm weather approaching, it’s time to start thinking about how you will continue your social media efforts during the summer months. While you will most likely be taking some time off, you don’t want your business presence to lose momentum (because, as we know, social media never takes a vacation).

Here are 3 things to consider to keep your presence strong during the slow season:

  1. Consider social management software. There are programs out there that will allow you to schedule social posts months in advance. That way you can make your plans, and then sit back with the assurance that your presence will still be boosted, even without your daily monitoring. One system we love is Later.
  2. Simplify. You don’t necessarily need to write a bunch of new material for posting. Look at what you’ve already published – what performed well? Could any of those articles be reposted? Could you post a survey, or a quote? Post one tip or statistic that might be of interest to your audience, or re-post someone else’s great material. And remember to keep it brief.
  3. Include a personal touch: Are you going somewhere fun for your vacation? Leave some space in your communications calendar for a picture of that amazing beach sunset, or your mud-soaked shoes after that great hike, or something you saw that inspired you. Personal pieces have great power; and bonus points if you can tie what you saw back to your business.

Don’t lose social momentum this summer, and let us know if you’d like help fleshing out a communications calendar.
