Reliability of websites for background checks
We have some great tools to help us prepare for meeting someone new. You can look them up on Twitter and see what’s top-of-mind for them, check out their Instagram page and typically get insight into their non-business persona, view them on LinkedIn to see their professional lineage, and read their website to learn about their company, and business opinions. But we find one of these sources is the least reliable. Do you know which is it?
Maybe it’s because of our profession (people are always reaching out to us to help them update or redo their website), but websites are the place people and companies are most out of alignment.
Why? Because when it comes to a company’s website, the mentality is to set and forget. When in fact, regularly updating your site, the bios, facts and information is critical for good SEO, and to ensure you are 100% in alignment with how you want the world to perceive you.
How do you ensure you keep your site in alignment, updated and active? Its simple – visit it regularly, read the text, and update and hone its content like you do your social feeds.
