Networking and the coronavirus
The coronavirus has everybody freaked out. Do we shake hands? Avoid crowds and highly trafficked areas? Nobody knows what to do. There are two responses: ignore it and keep doing what you are doing, or retreat and hunker down till it passes.
What we do know is that being connected is important for our mental health and our business’s health, too. Regardless of your preference, we have 3 suggestions for each response to COVID-19:
“Business as usual” mindset:
- Opt for alternative handshakes: toe taps, waves, or curtsies and bows
- Carry hand sanitizer or wipes
- Avoid buffets
“Hunker down” mindset:
- Video conferences: use Uber conference, Zoom, Skype or simply Facetime. Video helps you stay connected and enhances communication
- Write letters: it’s old fashioned, but who doesn’t love getting mail?!?
- Take a hike: meet with network contacts outside, take a stroll, get some fresh air and boost your immune system
Regardless of the choices you make for your well-being, staying connected is critical. Don’t let fears keep you from your network.
