How to cope with uncertainty
We are all living in uncertainty. It makes you feel helpless, a bit like a wanderer. I’ve learned that worrying forward only heightens the feelings that accompany uncertainty – fear, loneliness, hopelessness, anxiety, etc.
But there is a good thing that comes out of uncertainty. You quickly learn that focusing on the present is all that you can do.
Focus on the now. What can you do in this day, this moment?
And when you are struggling to battle your internal monologue brought on by uncertainty, disrupt it. Get up and physically feel things in your proximity, then stop and see if you can identify one smell and one sound in that moment.
Then get back to what you can do, right now in this moment, that will be good for you (no, that does not include a nap or snack)!
P.S. When I’m worrying forward will you remind me to step back and focus on the now?
