Hello, is anyone there?
Roughly an eon ago you purchased a phone system for yourself or your company. You recorded a greeting and never looked back. It’s time to rethink your greeting, especially if your company has gone virtual. Does your telephonic greeting truly represent your brand?
Some tips:
- Keep it short
- Speak clearly and at a slightly slower pace than you would normally speak, and eliminate any background noises
- Remember to say your company’s name and/or your name
- When programming options the caller can select, make sure first listed is the most frequently selected choice
- Provide guidelines for your team members on what your expectations are for phone greetings while they are working virtually
- Don’t say things you are not capable of doing (i.e. “leave a message and we’ll get back to you immediately”)
